Earth Hour everyday


If turning off your lights for one hour would save the world, would you do it?

Ok, it won’t save the world, but it could send the message we need to kick-start our consciousness into high gear so we can find ways to incorporate
Earth Hour into our everyday lives.

Sally speaks at Sheridan


“I just want to tell you one more story about how much fun it can be to be a journalist and how kooky it can get.”

She’s had a United Nations door shut in her face in the streets of Khandahar. She’s been captured by the Taliban. And she was privy to the whereabouts of Bin Laden before anyone else.

Poised and elegant, Sally Armstrong, social justice journalist and author, visited Sheridan College last Thursday to educate a young journalism class about what she called, “the career of your lives.”

The power of words comes to Oakville


If poetry readings conjure up images of dark stuffy rooms with long pauses and stagnant breath, then you would be wrong.

Now in its second year, Poetry Month in Oakville deals with themes such as poetry with a conscience, poetry with a smile, non-prophet poetry, multiculturalism and open mic nights.

If this sounds like a joke, well it is. And the laughs were on us at this year’s installment of Accent on Toronto.

Give to those who really need it


What do you get that person who has everything?

Get them a gift for someone who has nothing.

Returning this Christmas, a number of charitable organizations have made holiday financial donations

much, much more personal.

Sheridan's classrooms are getting all locked up


Following the recent emergency preparedness information sessions and lockdown drills,
Sheridan College has decided to fit all of its classroom doors with locks.

Break bread with the needy




Ontario has become the poverty capital of Canada, according to a report released by
United Way this past Tuesday. And the strain put on charitable organizations is going to be stressed beyond capacity,according to public education coordinator for the Daily Bread Food Bank, Monica Nunes.
